Urban Courtyard Garden, Cambridge

Dutch were commissioned to create an urban reflective oasis for a client in Cambridge. The scheme is based around a minimal green and white planting palette, using limited yet textural plant species, would soften the clean lines of the garden layout and provide a layered and vibrant backdrop to the hard landscape elements. Scented plants, bold textures, varying leaf shapes & sizes as well as upper and lower canopy plant choices will fill the space creating an intimate, coherent series of garden rooms.

Each space is designed to be enjoyed at different times of day and for varying degrees of entertaining whether it be morning coffee breaks, entertaining with friends or framed views to simply be enjoyed from within the house.

An overhead pergola, informed by the existing blackened timber cladding on the house, will add to these framed views. Providing varying degrees of weather protection as well as being a sculptural backdrop to the seating area.

A combination of blackened slatted panels, instant hedges and slatted/latticed features would assist in screening the exiting boundary treatment without encroaching into the space.
